YENAGOA, BAYELSA STATE – MAY 24, 2026

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has secured a total of 277,192 votes in the direct presidential primaries of the All Progressives Congress conducted across the 105 wards in the eight local government areas of Bayelsa State.
Governor Douye Diri, who served as the state Coordinator and Collation Officer for the presidential primary, announced the results at the Chief DSP Alamieyeseigha Memorial Banquet Hall in Yenagoa.

According to a statement issued by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Daniel Alabrah, Governor Diri commended the peaceful conduct of the exercise across the state, noting that the process marked a departure from what he described as the party’s previously “toxic” primaries in Bayelsa.
The governor stated that the orderly conduct of the presidential, National Assembly and House of Assembly primaries reflected growing unity within the party. He stressed that no individual could win elections without collective support and urged party members to remain united ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Governor Diri further expressed confidence that the APC would perform strongly in future elections, citing the party’s unity and the advantage of incumbency at both the state and federal levels.

Providing a breakdown of the presidential primary results from the various local government areas, the governor said President Tinubu polled 39,454 votes in Brass, 45,949 in Ekeremor, 22,593 in Kolokuma/Opokuma and 32,487 in Nembe.
The president also secured 24,896 votes in Ogbia, 46,283 in Sagbama, 34,692 in Southern Ijaw and 30,834 in Yenagoa.
