PRESIDENT TINUBU SALUTES PROFESSOR JERRY GANA AT 80

ABUJA, NIGERIA — December 2, 2025

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has extended warm felicitations to distinguished statesman, academician, and politician, Professor Jerry Gana, on the occasion of his 80th birthday.
In a statement issued by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information & Strategy, President Tinubu celebrated Professor Gana’s enduring influence and decades of committed service in Nigeria’s socio-political sphere.


Professor Gana, a respected public servant, served twice as Minister of Information and Culture/National Orientation under different administrations. He was also the Director of the Mass Mobilisation for Social Justice and Economic Recovery (MAMSER) during the Ibrahim Babangida administration, where he played a central role in nationwide civic enlightenment and social mobilisation efforts. Additionally, he was elected to the Senate in the aborted Second Republic, marking an early chapter in his long public career.


President Tinubu described Professor Gana as “a fine gentleman, a prolific communicator, a mass mobiliser, and a passionate patriot blessed with the gift of oratory.” He noted the former Minister’s unwavering commitment to unity, peace, and national development, praising his contributions to strengthening Nigeria’s values and democratic ideals through public engagement and national orientation.


The President wished Professor Gana a joyous 80th birthday, praying that God Almighty grants him many more years in good health and with a sound mind.
