President Tinubu Visits China Railway Construction Corporation, Reaffirms Commitment to Ibadan-Abuja-Kaduna-Kano Railway Segments
On Monday in Beijing, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu visited the China Railway Construction Corporation (CRCC), where he reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the completion of the Ibadan-Abuja-Kaduna-Kano railway segments. The President recognized CRCC as a reliable partner in Nigeria’s infrastructure development and praised the company’s ongoing railway projects in the country.

During the visit, President Tinubu emphasized the importance of the railway project to the Nigerian people and the broader West African region. “It is equally very important that we give assurances to the Nigerian people across our local communities that the Ibadan-Abuja-Kaduna-Kano railway segments will be completed and done to the satisfaction of Nigeria and West Africa at large,” the President stated.
He also expressed Nigeria’s readiness to continue collaborating with CRCC on infrastructure and other investment ventures. “We will support your investment in solid minerals and other ventures in Nigeria. I am here to assure you that Nigeria is ready to do business with you,” he added.
In response, Mr. Hegen, a senior executive at CRCC, highlighted the company’s longstanding relationship with Nigeria. He noted that over the past 43 years, CRCC has successfully executed more than 300 projects in Nigeria, contributing significantly to the country’s infrastructure development. He also mentioned the company’s efforts in training over 100,000 local workers.
Mr. Hegen provided an update on the performance of some of CRCC’s key projects in Nigeria, stating, “The Abuja-Kaduna Railway and Lagos-Ibadan Railway have transported approximately 9 million passengers and 180 tonnes of cargo. The Lagos Blue Line has transported over 1.6 million passengers.”
The visit underscores the strategic partnership between Nigeria and CRCC, with both parties committed to advancing critical infrastructure projects that will benefit the Nigerian economy and improve connectivity across the region.
