PRESIDENT TINUBU’S HISTORIC UK VISIT RESETS NIGERIA–UK RELATIONS FOR INVESTMENT, SECURITY, AND GROWTH

London, United Kingdom — 16 March 2026
The President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has embarked on a historic State Visit to the United Kingdom, aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and unlocking new opportunities in investment, security cooperation, and economic growth.
The visit marks a significant step in deepening diplomatic and economic ties between Nigeria and the United Kingdom, with a focus on fostering strategic partnerships that will drive sustainable development and mutual prosperity.
During the visit, President Tinubu is expected to engage with senior UK government officials, business leaders, and key stakeholders to promote Nigeria as a prime destination for foreign investment, particularly in critical sectors such as energy, infrastructure, technology, and manufacturing.
The discussions are also set to cover enhanced security collaboration, intelligence sharing, and capacity building to address evolving security challenges, including terrorism and transnational crime.
Officials noted that the visit aligns with the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritizes economic reforms, institutional strengthening, and improved governance as pathways to national development.
The President is also expected to highlight ongoing reforms aimed at stabilizing the economy, improving the ease of doing business, and creating an enabling environment for both local and international investors.
The State Visit is widely seen as a strategic move to reposition Nigeria on the global stage, reinforce its longstanding partnership with the United Kingdom, and attract the investments necessary to accelerate economic growth and national transformation.
