PRESS RELEASE: OGUN STATE AT 50. A GOLDEN JUBILEE OF PROGRESS, PEOPLE, AND PROMISE
On February 3, 1976, Ogun State was created. Fifty years later, the Gateway State stands tall. This anniversary marks vision, hard work, and shared sacrifice.

Ogun State earned the name Gateway State for a reason. The state connects regions, cultures, and markets. From the start, Ogun served as a bridge for trade, ideas, and growth. This role shaped its journey and strengthened its relevance.
The strength of Ogun rests in its people. Egba, Ijebu, Remo, Yewa, and Awori communities share values of diligence, learning, and enterprise. These values built towns, schools, markets, and industries. They shaped a people known for integrity and drive.
Education remains a proud legacy. Ogun produced leaders, scholars, and professionals who serve Nigeria and the world. Schools, colleges, and universities across the state continue to raise skilled minds and strong character.
Industry and commerce grew steadily. Industrial estates, factories, and small businesses found a home in Ogun. Proximity to Lagos opened doors for manufacturing, logistics, and trade. Many families found jobs and stable income through this growth.
Infrastructure changed the face of the state. Roads linked communities. Housing estates expanded towns. Transport links eased movement for people and goods. These steps supported urban growth and rural access.
Agriculture stayed central. Cocoa, cassava, rice, poultry, and vegetables supported livelihoods. Farm settlements and value chains improved food supply and income for farmers.
Leadership across decades shaped policy and progress. Each administration added layers of reform and development. Stability and continuity strengthened institutions and public trust.
In recent years, development gained pace. Investment in roads, housing, education, health, and security improved daily life. Business confidence rose. Job creation expanded. Communities felt the impact.
The people remain the heartbeat of Ogun. Residents at home and in the diaspora support growth through enterprise, skills, and service. Community spirit continues to hold towns together.
Challenges persist. Urban pressure, youth employment, and infrastructure gaps demand focus. Lessons from fifty years guide better choices and shared action.
The next fifty years call for innovation, inclusion, and sustainability. Ogun must invest in skills, technology, and local enterprise. Growth must reach every community.
Happy Golden Jubilee to Ogun State. This celebration honors the past, strengthens the present, and inspires the future. United in purpose, the Gateway State moves forward with pride and hope. Ise ya, Omo Ogun Ise ya, Ise po fun wa lati se.
