Regional Hotel Operation: Olukoyede Orders Arrest of Officers Involved in Unprofessional Conduct
The Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr. Ola Olukoyede, has mandated the arrest of two officers implicated in the unprofessional handling of a female staff member at the Regional Hotel in Ojo, Lagos. This directive follows the circulation of a viral video showing the officers assaulting the hotel staff during an early morning sting operation.

The operation led to the detention of a substantial number of suspects, who are currently undergoing profiling. However, the incident involving the assault has drawn significant attention and concern.
In response, Mr. Olukoyede has called for a comprehensive investigation into the conduct of the operation at the hotel. He assured that any officer found culpable would face appropriate disciplinary actions. The EFCC Chairman emphasized the commission’s commitment to executing its duties with professionalism and a deep respect for the rule of law.
Mr. Dele Oyewale, Head of Media and Publicity for the EFCC, reiterated this stance in a statement released on June 27, 2024, affirming that the EFCC would continue to operate within the bounds of legality and ethical standards.
