SGF Highlights President Tinubu’s Accomplishments Ahead of Independence Day Celebration

As Nigeria prepares for its upcoming independence celebration, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), George Akume, highlighted significant milestones achieved by President Bola Tinubu’s administration. During a briefing on Thursday, Akume emphasized that the government’s initiatives have already begun to positively impact the daily lives of Nigerians.

In his remarks, Akume referenced the Presidential CNG Initiative (Pi-CNG) as one of the administration’s key accomplishments aimed at alleviating transportation difficulties. “Recently, President Bola Tinubu GCFR followed through with his promises to ease transportation difficulties for our citizens with the establishment of the Presidential CNG Initiative and the launch of the first phase of thirty buses powered by hybrid Compressed Natural Gas (CNG),” Akume stated.

He noted that the initiative is a work in progress, designed to expand across all geopolitical zones. Additionally, the government has commissioned the first retrofitted CNG-powered train head for the Abuja-Kaduna route, a project that is expected to reduce travel costs by as much as 50% when fully operational.

To further encourage the conversion to CNG-powered transportation, the government has started distributing CNG conversion kits at no cost to Nigerians. This initiative is expected to significantly cut transportation expenses and reduce reliance on more expensive fuel options.

The SGF’s announcement comes in anticipation of the 64th anniversary of Nigeria’s independence, as the administration continues to outline its achievements since President Tinubu assumed office.

The independence celebration is expected to feature a series of events showcasing the progress made under the current government, including the formal recognition of these transport-related milestones.
