Sowore Calls on Nigerians to Join #30DayRantChallenge Amid Rising Anger and Frustration Under Tinubu Government

Human rights activist and #RevolutionNow convener, Omoyele Sowore, has urged Nigerians to participate in the #30DayRantChallenge, a social media initiative aimed at voicing discontent over the growing hardship and impunity under President Bola Tinubu’s administration. The challenge comes as citizens across the country express mounting frustration over issues such as hunger, insecurity, economic instability, and a pervasive sense of hopelessness.

The #30DayRantChallenge was launched by Ushie Rita Uguamaye, a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member serving in Lagos State, who is popularly known as Raye. Uguamaye recently gained widespread attention after posting a viral TikTok video criticizing the Tinubu government for its failure to address the country’s economic crisis, skyrocketing inflation, and deteriorating living conditions. Her video resonated with many Nigerians, sparking a wave of similar outcries on social media.

The initiative encourages Nigerians to share their grievances daily for 30 days, using the hashtag #30DayRantChallenge, to draw attention to the pressing issues facing the nation. According to Uguamaye, the goal is to amplify the voices of ordinary citizens and hold the government accountable for its policies and actions. “The aim is to be heard and to encourage others to speak up about the country’s worsening economic situation,” she explained.

In a post on his X (formerly Twitter) page, Sowore endorsed the challenge and called for widespread participation. “The 30-day rant challenge is in full swing; kindly participate and rant persistently and consistently until we win,” he wrote. Sowore described the initiative as a powerful tool for mobilizing Nigerians to demand change, adding, “Nigerian youths are presently engaged in a 30-day rant challenge, launched by Youth Corper Rita ‘Raye’ Ushie Uguamaye, who has made the unambiguous statement that Tinubu is a terrible president. This assertion has been widely endorsed, leading to ongoing protests, and we invite you to contribute to this movement by persistently articulating your discontent until we attain our goals.”

The #30DayRantChallenge has gained traction as more Nigerians take to social media to express their anger and frustration. Many participants have highlighted the rising cost of living, unemployment, insecurity, and the perceived lack of effective governance under the Tinubu administration. The challenge has also sparked debates about the role of social media in holding leaders accountable and driving social change.

The Tinubu government, which came into power in 2023, has faced criticism for its handling of the economy and security challenges. Despite promises of reform and development, many Nigerians feel that the administration has failed to deliver on its commitments, leaving citizens to grapple with worsening living conditions and a lack of hope for the future.

As the #30DayRantChallenge continues to gain momentum, it reflects the growing discontent among Nigerians and their determination to demand better governance. The initiative underscores the power of collective action and the importance of citizen engagement in addressing the nation’s challenges. Whether it will lead to tangible change remains to be seen, but it has already succeeded in amplifying the voices of those who feel marginalized and ignored by the current administration.

The challenge serves as a reminder that, in the face of adversity, Nigerians remain resilient and vocal in their pursuit of a better future.
