SOWORE EMERGES AAC PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE

ABUJA, NIGERIA — MAY 26, 2026

Human rights activist and former presidential aspirant, Omoyele Sowore, has emerged as the presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC) through a consensus arrangement ahead of the 2027 general election.
The party’s presidential primary election was held in Abuja on Tuesday, where delegates and party members unanimously endorsed Sowore as the flagbearer of the AAC.

Speaking during the exercise, party leaders described Sowore as a symbol of revolutionary leadership and democratic activism capable of driving the party’s vision for a new Nigeria.
The primary election also featured the unveiling of the party’s agenda focused on promoting democratic participation, accountability, transparency, and people-oriented governance.
According to reports by Tessy Omeri, party officials said the AAC remains committed to building a Nigeria founded on justice, equality, and responsible leadership.

In his acceptance remarks, Sowore appreciated party members for the confidence reposed in him and pledged to continue advocating for good governance, youth inclusion, and social justice across the country.

The AAC leadership expressed optimism that the party would provide Nigerians with an alternative political platform ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
