Speaker Abbas Leads House Delegation to 8th China International Import Expo

Shanghai, China – November 4, 2025

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, Ph.D., is leading a high-level delegation of the House to the 8th China International Import Expo (CIIE) holding in Shanghai, China.

According to a statement signed by the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Speaker, Musa Krishi, the visit follows an invitation extended to Speaker Abbas by the Chinese Embassy in Nigeria to deliver a five-minute goodwill message at the opening of the Expo.
During the visit, Speaker Abbas is expected to hold a bilateral meeting with the Premier of the People’s Republic of China, His Excellency Li Qiang. The meeting will focus on strengthening strategic partnerships and exploring new areas of collaboration between Nigeria and China, particularly in the areas of trade, investment, infrastructure, technology, and parliamentary cooperation.

In addition to his engagements at the Expo, Speaker Abbas will participate in the Africa-China Economic and Cultural Forum, where discussions will center on enhancing economic ties, promoting mutual cultural understanding, and deepening cooperation between African nations and China.
The China International Import Expo, inaugurated in 2018, serves as one of the world’s premier platforms for promoting international trade and economic collaboration. The participation of Nigeria’s legislative leadership underscores the country’s commitment to fostering stronger diplomatic and economic relations with China and other global partners.
