STRATEGIC COOPERATION IN DIGITAL BORDER MANAGEMENT

The Nigeria Customs Service has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening international partnerships through a strategic cooperation initiative on digital border management.
The collaboration, established between the Nigeria Customs Service and His Majesty’s Revenue and Customs, is aimed at modernising border operations, enhancing trade facilitation and improving national security through the deployment of advanced digital solutions.
The agreement highlights the importance of leveraging technology to streamline customs procedures, boost compliance and combat smuggling and other cross-border crimes. It also reflects a shared vision of aligning Nigeria’s border management systems with global best practices.
As part of the cooperation, both agencies are expected to engage in knowledge exchange, technical assistance and capacity-building initiatives to strengthen operational efficiency and institutional effectiveness.
Stakeholders have noted that the initiative represents a significant step toward improving revenue generation, enhancing transparency and reinforcing Nigeria’s position in the global trade ecosystem through efficient and secure border management systems.
