Commissioner for Works, Engr. Ade Akinsanya, announced that the rehabilitation efforts will be prioritized based on fund availability and the economic significance of the roads in question. This strategic approach aims to ensure that the most critical and impactful projects are addressed promptly.

“Stakeholders submitted a list of 120 roads spread across the 20 local governments in the state,” Engr. Akinsanya stated. “This initiative is in line with Governor Abiodun’s commitment to making Ogun more attractive to both local and foreign investors.”

To ensure the rehabilitation exercise meets the needs of the community, Governor Abiodun enlisted the input of a diverse group of stakeholders, including royal fathers, lawmakers at both state and federal levels, local government chairmen, community leaders, and religious leaders. These stakeholders were tasked with identifying and submitting roads that require immediate attention within their domains.

Engr. Akinsanya revealed that work has already commenced on several roads, with contractors set to mobilize and begin work on the remaining projects soon. This move signifies the administration’s determination to enhance the state’s infrastructure and improve the quality of life for its residents.

In addition to the state’s efforts, Governor Abiodun has secured collaboration with the Federal Government for the rehabilitation and reconstruction of 14 additional roads. This partnership with the Federal Ministry of Works includes ongoing projects such as the Laderin-Train Station (Phase 1), Adesanolu road in Mowe, and Liberty road in Oru Ijebu. Other roads slated for joint rehabilitation efforts include:

  • Babcock road via Ilisan market road

  • Major Thompson Road, Sagamu (ongoing)
