The All Progressives Congress (APC) on Friday disqualified its former National Secretary, Senator Iyiola Omisore, along with six other aspirants from participating in the Party’s forthcoming governorship primary.

ABUJA, Friday, December 6, 2025 –

According to a report released by the APC Governorship Screening
Committee, seven aspirants
— Sen. Iyiola Omisore, Babatunde Haketer Oralusi, Mr. Oyedotun Babayemi, Dr. Akinade Akanmu Ogunbiyi, Benedict Olugboyega Alabi, Adegoke Rasheed Okiki Adekunle, and Sen. Babajide Omoworare — failed to meet the mandatory nomination requirement stipulated by the party.

The APC guidelines demand that each aspirant must be nominated by five (5) fully registered and financially up-to-date members from every Local Government Area. The Committee stated that the affected aspirants were unable to secure the required number of qualified nominators, thus rendering their applications invalid.

However, the Committee confirmed that two aspirants, Mulikat Abiola Jimoh and Munirudeen Bola Oyebanji, successfully fulfilled all constitutional and procedural requirements. Their submissions, the Committee noted, demonstrated full compliance with party rules, including proper nomination by the requisite number of financially up-to-date party members across all Local Government Areas.

The screening outcome sets the stage for a more streamlined governorship primary as the APC prepares to determine its flagbearer.
