The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has deployed over 55,000 operatives nationwide to ensure the safety of lives, property, and critical national assets during the Christmas and New Year celebrations.
Abuja, December 23, 2025
The Commandant General of the Corps, Ahmed Abubakar Audi, disclosed that the massive deployment is part of proactive measures to strengthen the nation’s security architecture during the Yuletide period. He noted that festive seasons are often targeted by criminal elements who seek to exploit increased movement of people and heightened commercial activities to carry out unlawful acts.
According to Audi, the operatives have been strategically positioned across critical infrastructure, public spaces, worship centres, markets, recreational areas, and other flashpoints across the country to deter crime and respond swiftly to any security threats.
The NSCDC boss directed Zonal Commanders to closely monitor formations under their supervision, while State Commandants were instructed to effectively coordinate area commands, divisions, and other operational units to guarantee adequate coverage and optimal performance throughout the festive period.
He further assured Nigerians of the Corps’ readiness to collaborate with sister security agencies to maintain peace and order, stressing the importance of intelligence sharing and joint operations.
Audi also called on members of the public to cooperate with security personnel by remaining vigilant, obeying lawful directives, and promptly reporting suspicious activities, adding that collective effort is essential for a peaceful and secure Yuletide celebration.
The NSCDC reiterated its commitment to safeguarding communities and ensuring that Nigerians celebrate the season in a safe and secure environment.
