Abuja, Nigeria — December 2, 2025
The appointment was formally announced in a statement signed by the Deputy Controller General of Corrections in charge of Human Resources, Ado Sale. According to the statement, Osuji assumes the role following the retirement of the former spokesperson, Deputy Controller of Corrections Umar Abubakar, who bowed out of service on November 19, 2025.
Osuji’s elevation is widely seen as a recognition of her strong professional background and longstanding commitment to public communication within the security sector. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations and Advertising from Lagos State University and a Master’s degree in Public Administration from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso.
Her career within the NCoS has been marked by key communication and strategic advisory roles. She has served as Public Relations Officer for both the Lagos and Federal Capital Territory Commands, Assistant National Public Relations Officer at the NCoS National Headquarters, and Press Secretary to three consecutive Ministers of Interior between 2015 and 2023—experience that has positioned her as one of the Service’s most seasoned communication experts.
In announcing her appointment, the Nigerian Correctional Service described Osuji’s selection as a testament to her “extensive professional experience” in strategic communication, stakeholder engagement, and public interface.
Her tenure is expected to usher in a new phase of communication reforms and strengthened public engagement for the agency, as she steps into a role that holds significant influence in shaping public perception of correctional administration in Nigeria.
