VALENTINE DAY CELEBRATION: CORPS MARSHAL CAUTIONS AGAINST RECKLESS, DRUNK DRIVING

The Corps Marshal of the (FRSC), , has stated that all operational and educational tools have been fully deployed to ensure the safety of road users across the country during the Valentine’s Day celebrations.

He warned celebrants and other road users to desist from indulging in drunk driving, avoid excessive speeding, and resist the temptation to drive recklessly in order to mitigate incidents of road traffic crashes during the celebration period.

In a statement issued by the Corps Public Education Officer, , the Corps Marshal disclosed that Commanding Officers nationwide have been directed to intensify efforts through the massive deployment of officers and men for enhanced visibility, effective traffic control, and maximum enforcement of all traffic regulations.

According to the statement, the Corps Marshal also ordered the strategic deployment of operational equipment, including breathalysers and radar guns, to ensure that suspected drunk drivers are promptly tested and prevented from continuing their journeys. He emphasized that the use of these tools will help deter traffic violations and safeguard lives during the festivities.

The FRSC boss reiterated the Corps’ commitment to reducing road crashes and ensuring that Nigerians celebrate responsibly. He urged motorists to prioritize safety, obey traffic rules, and cooperate with FRSC personnel and other security agencies working to maintain order on the highways.

He further called on passengers to speak up when drivers engage in dangerous behaviors, stressing that road safety is a shared responsibility. The Corps assured the public that it remains fully prepared to respond to emergencies and will continue to monitor traffic situations closely throughout the Valentine period.
