Unrest has gripped the streets of Ikorodu once again as reports emerge of clashes between rival cult gangs. Yesterday, a former top member of the Aye confraternity, known as “Okete” or “Euro,” met his demise, allegedly at the hands of an Eiye member affiliated with the local security network, Onyabo.

According to unconfirmed reports, Okete, notorious for his brutality, was eliminated near Benson Garage in Ikorodu. He had gained infamy for singlehandedly taking out rival gang members upon his release from prison three years ago when he assumed the position of number one in the Aye confraternity.
The incident occurred amidst the “Magbo Oro” festival, which both Aye and Eiye members had agreed to celebrate peacefully, following directives from a prominent chief to avoid violence. However, the truce was shattered when the Eiye faction allegedly utilized their Onyabo member to target Okete, taking advantage of the festivity’s distraction.
In the attack, Okete sustained fatal injuries, with three other Aye members—identified as Bashiru, Faud, and Lekan—reportedly escaping with gunshot wounds.
In the wake of Okete’s demise, tensions have soared, with unconfirmed reports of a retaliatory attack by Aye members in the late hours of the night.
The situation remains volatile, prompting concerns among residents and local authorities about the potential escalation of violence in the area. Security forces have been deployed to maintain order and prevent further bloodshed as the community braces for potential unrest in the aftermath of this tragic incident.
