What you need to know about zip lining in YS Falls

                                      Zip-Lining at YS Falls

Have you ever been to the zip-lining at YS Falls in Jamaica? Trust me, you are missing a lot if your affirmation is negative. YS Falls is one of the best attractive centers in Jamaica as it’s known for its well kept attraction and a tranquil and serene environment. A cane farm together with a working factory came together to bring about this attractive center in 1992.
Let’s take an interesting tour as we take a look at the natural beauty YS Falls has to offer. I paid 1500 Jamaican Dollars (JMD) to get into this eleventh attraction spot visited in this series. Sit tight as we enjoy this wonderful adventure from the pools to the falls and then to the zip lining.

Opening Hours
YS falls opens from Tuesdays to Sundays between the hours of 9:30 am to 3:30 pm. Mondays and public holidays like New year’s day, Christmas day and Boxing day are excluded as it is closed to the public within this time frame. If you are making plans to go with a group of friends or family members exceeding 25 in number, you will need to make a reservation before visiting as it has its days of accommodating bits of crowd. It’s advisable for you to make it before 3pm of its opening hours as admission ends by 3pm daily.

Location
Zip lining at YS Falls is located on Jamaica’s south coast near the black river in St. Elizabeth parish. The YS Falls is easy to access from areas along that coast, as well as Negril. There are stairs on different sides on which you can go through to access the waterfalls in the different areas.

Mode of transportation

If you aren’t coming with your car, private taxis are great fit for this journey. When you arrive, from the YS plantation, a Jitney ride is available to take you to the falls within 10 minutes. The Jitney tractor will drop you off by the gift shop and then you decide where you want to go at YS Falls. After I finished my tour, the Jitney took me back to the park.

Price range
The price of entry ranges from children to adults, I paid $1500 Jamaican Dollars (JMD) on entry. The cost for entry for adults is within 20 US Dollars (USD), for children within the ages of 3-15 years is 12 US Dollars (USD). For legal Jamaican residents with valid ID like Drivers license, voters ID or work permit, adults gets to pay $1500 Jamaican Dollars (JMD) while children pays $1000 Jamaican Dollar (JMD). Credits cards like American Express and Discover are majorly used as a mode of payment.

Highlights
Apart from the zip lining which seems to be the best fun center for me, there are other highlights such as the beautiful trees it is surrounded with, the gardens and definitely, the refreshing waterfall. There is a river pool located at the base of the falls and there is also a garden pool located a bit distant from the falls. The waterfalls serve as a source to feed other natural pools which are great options for swimming and relaxation. There is a natural pool which isn’t too dip and likely for children and those who can’t swim. A changing area is accessible, a wash off area is also available for those who needs it, a gift shop where you can find souvenirs and other gift items, which you can keep for a memory that will last you a lifetime. There are bunch of different huts for relaxation, break room for the staffs, maintenance area, a restaurant semi kind of bar, two other pools of about 5 to 6 feet in depth; one is a bit warm and the other is super cool, nice seating areas and other restaurants are all available to make your tour exciting and fun filled.
River tubing is also one of the fun filled activity enjoyed in Jamaica and YS falls is one of the places it can be found. To ensure you participate, you will need to make reservations in advance because it gets booked up quickly.

Personal Experience
I had a lot of fun on my tour round YS Falls, from the pool to the falls and then to the zip lining. On getting to the pool, there was no one there, I enjoyed the tranquillity in that area. There was also another long pool which I will call the infinity pool, it’s a very long and curvy pool which is icing cold. My best part of the tour was the falls and the ziplining which was my reason for going on the tour. I had a ride on the ziplining and trust me, it was fun. The zipline was wired across the cars, office and then came down. After having much fun, I headed home with the Jitney which took me to the park.

Personal Opinion
My experience at YS Falls was a memorable one, especially the one I had at the ziplining. The surrounding were very clean and there was tranquillity in the environment which is a great place for relaxation and fun. For those who can’t swim or have children who are keen to swim, there is a natural pool which isn’t too deep to go for. The safety in the environment is top notch as there are lifeguards stationed all around the falls watching out carefully. There are adequate parking lots, jovial workers, neat bathrooms and fun filled activities going on around which I bet you wouldn’t want to miss a bit.
