RISING RIVER LEVELS IN 15 STATES: NEMA ACTIVATES OPERATIONS OFFICES, DIRECTS LOCAL AUTHORITIES TO ACTIVATE PREPAREDNESS MECHANISMS

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has activated its operations offices in 15 states following rising river levels and directed relevant local authorities to immediately activate preparedness mechanisms to mitigate potential flooding and protect vulnerable communities.

The agency urged stakeholders to intensify monitoring of river levels, strengthen early-warning systems and ensure that emergency response measures are put in place in areas at risk.

NEMA also called on residents in flood-prone communities to remain vigilant, adhere to safety advisories from relevant authorities and relocate from vulnerable areas when necessary.

The agency reaffirmed its commitment to coordinating timely emergency response and supporting state and local authorities in preventing loss of lives and property.
