PRESIDENT TINUBU CONGRATULATES DAMILOLA OSIKOYA, NORA AWOLOWO ON GUINNESS WORLD RECORD

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Nigerian filmmakers Damilola Osikoya of Switch Visual Production and Nora Awolowo of Rixel Studios on achieving a Guinness World Record for the largest attendance at a film screening.

The record was achieved during the screening of Black Market in Lagos on September 26, 2026, attracting a large audience and marking another milestone for Nigeria’s growing creative industry.

In a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu praised the filmmakers for their creativity, enterprise and ambition. He described the achievement as further evidence of the exceptional talent within Nigeria’s creative sector.

The President noted that Nigeria’s creative economy is increasingly contributing to economic growth by building businesses, creating jobs and opening new markets for Nigerian talents. He highlighted film, music, fashion and art as sectors helping to project Nigeria’s stories, culture and creativity to audiences around the world.

According to the statement, the success of Black Market demonstrates the possibilities that can emerge when Nigerian creativity is combined with enterprise, investment and the capacity to operate on a large scale.

President Tinubu also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to creating more opportunities for young Nigerians to turn their talents into sustainable livelihoods and globally competitive businesses.

He commended the filmmakers, cast, crew and everyone involved in the Black Market project, while wishing the team greater success in their future endeavours.
