TROOPS RESCUE 41 TRAVELERS IN ZAMFARA

Troops of Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have rescued 41 travellers who were abducted by armed bandits after their commercial bus broke down along the Tsafe-Funtua Road in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State.  

The incident occurred on Monday when the bus, reportedly travelling from Senegal to Kano State, developed a mechanical fault along the highway. The armed attackers reportedly took advantage of the situation and attempted to move the stranded passengers into nearby areas.

Acting on actionable intelligence, the troops quickly mobilised to the location and engaged the attackers. The military said the pressure from the troops forced the assailants to abandon the victims and flee into surrounding farmlands.  

The rescued travellers comprised 24 males, 10 females and seven children. They were reportedly rescued unharmed and are receiving necessary support before being reunited with their families and transit authorities.

The operation is part of sustained security efforts by troops under Operation FANSAN YAMMA to protect travellers and communities across Zamfara and other parts of the North-West. Authorities said troops remain active in the area as efforts continue to locate the fleeing attackers and prevent further abductions.
