COLLATION OF RESULTS IN PROGRESS AS GOMBE PDP CONDUCTS FRESH GOVERNORSHIP PRIMARY

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Gombe State has conducted a fresh governorship primary election ahead of the 2027 general elections, following a Federal High Court order nullifying the party’s earlier primary.

The rerun was held across the state’s 11 local government areas and 114 wards, with former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Professor Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, former federal lawmaker Khamisu Mailantarki, and Aliyu Usman Garry participating in the contest.

The fresh exercise followed a September 24, 2026, judgment by the Federal High Court in Gombe, which ordered the PDP to conduct another primary within 30 days after finding that the earlier process did not comply with relevant party and electoral requirements.  

Voting was completed peacefully, after which the collation of delegates’ votes commenced at the PDP state secretariat in Gombe. Party officials, representatives of the aspirants and observers monitored the collation process.

Reports later showed that Pantami emerged as the winner of the rerun. However, different media reports gave differing vote totals, so the figures should be treated cautiously pending the party’s certified record.  

The outcome is expected to shape the PDP’s preparations for the 2027 Gombe governorship election, while any further legal or electoral developments could still affect the party’s final nomination.
