IGP Disu Deploys DIG Operations, Two CPs to Rescue 20 Abducted Prospective NYSC Members

Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun Disu, has ordered the deployment of the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of Operations, alongside two Commissioners of Police, to coordinate efforts to rescue 20 prospective National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members who were reportedly abducted.

The deployment is aimed at strengthening the ongoing search-and-rescue operation and ensuring the safe recovery of the affected prospective corps members. The senior police officers are expected to work with formations and other security agencies on the ground to intensify intelligence gathering, surveillance and tactical operations.

The development has prompted heightened security efforts as authorities seek to establish the circumstances surrounding the abduction and track the victims’ location.

The police leadership has directed the deployed officers to coordinate the operation closely and ensure that all available resources are mobilised towards securing the safe release of the abducted youths.

The incident has also renewed attention on the safety of prospective corps members travelling to their designated orientation camps, with security agencies expected to strengthen measures along vulnerable routes and locations.

Authorities have appealed for useful information from members of the public that could assist security personnel in locating the victims and apprehending those responsible.:::
