APC PRESIDENTIAL CAMPAIGN COUNCIL REACTS TO OBI’S CLAIMS OVER 2023 ELECTION

The All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council has challenged the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, to provide evidence to support his claim that he won the 2023 presidential election.

The council’s reaction followed comments made by the former Anambra State governor during a recent media interview with the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), in which he reportedly reiterated his position on the outcome of the election.
In a statement issued by the council’s spokesperson, Dele Alake, the APC criticised Obi’s remarks, describing them as misleading and insisting that claims concerning the outcome of the 2023 presidential election should be supported by verifiable evidence.
The council urged Obi to present concrete proof to substantiate his position rather than continue making statements challenging the officially declared result. It maintained that public discussions about the election should be based on facts and established records.
The APC Presidential Campaign Council also reaffirmed its position that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu emerged as the winner of the 2023 presidential election, following the declaration by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
INEC declared Tinubu the winner of the election conducted on February 25, 2023, after he secured the highest number of votes among the presidential candidates. The result, however, was challenged by opposition parties and candidates, including Obi, who questioned aspects of the electoral process and the announced outcome.
The council’s latest comments reflect the continuing political disagreements surrounding the 2023 presidential election, with different political actors maintaining their positions on the credibility of the process and the legitimacy of the declared result.
Beyond the election controversy, the APC Presidential Campaign Council defended the policies and programmes of the Tinubu administration, particularly the economic reforms being implemented under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
According to the council, the administration has introduced key economic measures aimed at stabilising the economy, improving government revenue and creating a foundation for long-term economic growth. It maintained that these reforms are intended to address longstanding structural challenges and strengthen Nigeria’s economic prospects.
However, the administration’s economic policies have continued to attract public debate, particularly over their effects on the cost of living, household purchasing power and the financial circumstances of ordinary Nigerians.
The APC council maintained that the government’s reform agenda would contribute to economic stability, while urging political leaders to engage in discussions based on verifiable information.
The exchange between the APC Presidential Campaign Council and Obi underscores the continuing political tensions surrounding the 2023 presidential election, as well as the broader debate over electoral credibility, democratic accountability and the performance of the current administration.
