INEC MARKS 2026 CUSTOMER SERVICE WEEK, TASKS STAFF TO GO THE EXTRA MILE IN SERVICE DELIVERY

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has joined organisations across the country in marking the 2026 Customer Service Week, urging its staff to go the extra mile in delivering efficient, responsive, and citizen-centred services.
The commission emphasised the importance of professionalism, courtesy, accountability, and dedication in meeting the needs of Nigerians who depend on its services. It also encouraged staff members to demonstrate a stronger commitment to improving service delivery across its offices and operations.

The celebration provides an opportunity for INEC to reflect on its responsibilities to the public and reinforce the importance of maintaining effective communication with citizens, political stakeholders, and other electoral participants.
As Nigeria’s electoral management body, INEC provides essential services that include voter registration, Permanent Voter Card (PVC) collection, voter education, political party administration, and the organisation of elections. Efficient delivery of these services is vital to promoting public confidence in the electoral process.

The commission’s call for staff to go the extra mile also highlights the need for prompt responses to public enquiries, improved accessibility, respectful engagement, and the timely resolution of complaints. These measures can help strengthen the relationship between the commission and the citizens it serves.
Furthermore, the emphasis on customer service reflects the broader importance of institutional accountability and continuous improvement in public administration. By encouraging staff to adopt a service-oriented approach, INEC aims to promote an environment where the needs and concerns of citizens receive appropriate attention.

The 2026 Customer Service Week celebration therefore serves as a reminder that effective electoral administration extends beyond the conduct of elections to include the quality of services provided to Nigerians throughout the electoral cycle.
INEC’s appeal to its workforce reinforces the expectation that every staff member has a role to play in building public trust, enhancing institutional performance, and ensuring that citizens receive professional and courteous service.
