The Niger State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Murtala Muhammad Bagana, has said that no active cases of Ebola have been detected in Suleja or elsewhere in Niger State, but health authorities have placed the areas on heightened alert as part of measures to prevent the spread of the disease.

Bagana explained that the heightened surveillance followed a directive by the state government in response to the Federal Government’s confirmation of an Ebola case in Abuja.

He noted that Suleja was considered a critical area for disease surveillance because of its proximity to the Federal Capital Territory and the high volume of daily movement and commercial activities between the town and Abuja.

According to the commissioner, the state government is strengthening its preparedness and surveillance efforts to ensure the early detection of any suspected cases and prevent a potential outbreak.

He urged residents to remain calm, rely on information from official sources and avoid spreading misinformation that could cause unnecessary panic.
