‘Restore Unity and Focus: Urgent Message to APC Caucus from Newly Elected Ogun State Assembly Member, Hon Waliu Owode’
In the pursuit of harmony and effective governance, it is imperative that the members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Ogun State House of Assembly put their house in order. Hon Waliu Owode AKA Oloogun Ebi, representing Ijebu East Constituency, has appealed to his fellow APC colleagues to resolve their internal differences amicably and refrain from blaming the newly elected members of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) for the challenges surrounding the election of the speaker and other principal offices.
During a statement delivered in Abeokuta, Hon Waliu Owode emphasized that the PDP members should not be held responsible for the ongoing crisis in the selection of a speaker and deputy speaker for the 10th Assembly. He clarified that the rumors suggesting PDP’s support for either Rt Hon. Olakunle Oluomo or Hon. Elemide Oludaisi as the next Speaker of the Ogun House of Assembly are baseless, as the PDP represents a minority group within the Assembly and holds no ulterior motives concerning leadership positions.
Hon Waliu Owode further articulated, “Our primary focus lies in vigilantly observing and understanding the Assembly’s operations, adhering to existing rules and guidelines. By doing so, we can effectively deliver the dividends of democracy to our constituents and safeguard their interests while working hand in hand with our able Governor, Governor Dapo Abiodun.”
He dismissed assumptions that the PDP would endorse Hon. Elemide over the former speaker, Oluomo, highlighting the fundamental disparity in their political affiliations and limited knowledge of the inner workings of the APC. Owode acknowledged the prevalence of such rumors but urged everyone to approach them with caution.
Expressing his disappointment with the sudden postponement of the 10th Assembly’s inauguration date, Hon Owode affirmed the readiness of the PDP Caucus to work cohesively for the benefit of their constituents and the people of Ogun State. He emphasized the importance of unity and a collective pursuit of the state’s welfare.
