In a highly anticipated race, 16 contenders are gearing up to compete for the All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial nomination in Ondo State. The party has pledged to conduct a fair and transparent primary election on April 20, ahead of the state’s governorship election scheduled for November 16, 2024.
The submission of expression of interest and nomination forms by the aspirants took place at the APC’s national secretariat in Abuja over the weekend. Nze Chidi Duru, the APC Deputy National Organising Secretary, assured the candidates of a level playing field in the primary process.
Duru emphasized the party’s commitment to conducting a credible primary, citing the recent example of Edo State where disputes were resolved through negotiation and consensus-building. He expressed confidence in the party’s ability to secure victory in both Edo and Ondo states, highlighting the importance of unity within the APC ranks.
With 16 candidates vying for the APC ticket, the gubernatorial race in Ondo State promises to be competitive and closely watched.
