KEBBI POLICE DEPLOYS TACTICAL UNITS, MILITARY AND VIGILANTES TO RESCUE KIDNAPPED DEPUTY SPEAKER

Bagudo, Kebbi State — November 1, 2025

The Kebbi State Police Command has deployed tactical units alongside military personnel and local vigilantes in a coordinated search and rescue operation following the abduction of the Deputy Speaker of the Kebbi State House of Assembly, Hon. Muhammad Sama’ila Bagudo.
According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Nafiu Abubakar, the incident occurred on Friday night, October 31, 2025, at about 8:20 p.m., when a group of armed bandits stormed Bagudo town in Bagudo Local Government Area. The assailants reportedly attacked the community and kidnapped the Deputy Speaker shortly after he had observed the Isha’i prayers and was heading home.


Upon receiving the distress report, the Kebbi State Police Command swiftly mobilized a joint team comprising tactical operatives, military forces, and local vigilante groups. The combined security teams have since launched an extensive manhunt, combing through suspected bandits’ escape routes and nearby forest areas in a bid to rescue the lawmaker unharmed and bring the perpetrators to justice.


The Commissioner of Police, Kebbi State Command, CP Bello Sani, reaffirmed the Command’s unwavering commitment to protecting lives and property across the state. He assured the public that every available resource was being deployed to ensure the safe rescue of the abducted lawmaker.


CP Sani also urged residents to remain calm and cooperative, emphasizing the importance of providing timely and credible information that could assist security agencies in their operations.
“We appeal to the good people of Kebbi State to remain vigilant and continue to support the police and other security agencies with useful information. Together, we can overcome the menace of banditry and restore peace to our communities,” he stated.
As of the time of filing this report, security operatives continue to intensify efforts in the ongoing rescue mission.
