APC RECEIVES DEFECTORS FROM DIFFERENT POLITICAL PARTIES IN PLATEAU STATE

The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) on [Insert Today’s Date] witnessed a major political boost as key stalwarts from across Nigeria converged on the Polo Field in Jos to welcome a fresh wave of defectors from several political parties in Plateau State. APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, alongside the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, presided over the ceremony and formally received the new entrants from five political parties: the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Labour Party (LP), Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), African Democratic Congress (ADC), and the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).

Prominent among the defectors were:

Latep Dabang, former Director-General of the PDP Campaign during the 2023 elections,

Dr. Patrick Dakum, the Labour Party’s 2023 governorship candidate, and

Alfred Dabwam, former NNPP governorship candidate.


Their defection marks a significant shift in the political landscape of Plateau State, with analysts describing it as a major strategic gain for the ruling party.

During the ceremony, the APC National Chairman presented the defectors with official party flags and the symbolic broom, representing unity and collective effort. Prof. Yilwatda assured them of full integration into the party structure, adding that the APC had already “put machinery on ground to position the party for an overwhelming victory in 2027.”

Senate President Akpabio also commended the defectors for what he described as a bold and progressive decision, emphasizing that the APC remains a party committed to national development, stability, and inclusive governance.

The colourful event concluded with renewed calls for unity among party members as the APC intensifies preparations for future political engagements. The influx of high-profile defectors is expected to significantly reshape political dynamics in Plateau State, signaling a stronger competitive edge for the APC ahead of the next election cycle.
