DEFENCE MINISTER REAFFIRMS NIGERIA’S COMMITMENT TO GLOBAL PEACEKEEPING

The Minister of Defence has reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to global peacekeeping and the promotion of international peace, security and stability.

The Minister highlighted Nigeria’s longstanding contributions to peace support operations, particularly through the deployment of military personnel to conflict-affected regions. He noted that Nigeria remains committed to working with international partners and multilateral organisations in addressing conflicts and strengthening global security.

He further emphasised the importance of professional, well-trained and properly equipped personnel in ensuring the success of peacekeeping missions. According to him, effective international cooperation is essential to tackling emerging security threats and preventing conflicts from escalating.

The Minister also reiterated Nigeria’s readiness to continue supporting initiatives that promote peaceful resolution of disputes, protection of vulnerable populations and restoration of stability in countries affected by conflict.

He said the Federal Government would continue to support the Nigerian Armed Forces in building the capacity required to participate effectively in regional and international peacekeeping operations.

Nigeria’s renewed commitment reflects its continued role in international peace efforts and its support for collective action towards a safer and more stable world.
