Published September 25, 2026 · Salama

The Federal Government is set to launch the African Global Festival Nigeria (Aglofest) in October 2026, following presidential approval for the international cultural and economic initiative.

Aglofest is being developed as a public-private partnership aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s cultural diplomacy and expanding the country’s engagement with Africa and the global Black diaspora. The initiative is expected to create a platform where culture, business, trade and investment can intersect.

According to the statement, the festival will bring together government institutions, private-sector organisations, international participants and cultural bodies for activities centred on cultural exchange, trade, investment and business partnerships.

A major objective of the festival is to promote Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage, tourism opportunities and creative industries to a global audience. It is also expected to provide opportunities for investors, entrepreneurs and businesses to establish new partnerships and explore commercial opportunities connected to Nigeria and the wider African market.

Key Highlights of Aglofest

One of the major components will be the Black Diaspora Economic Forum, which will focus on trade, investment and economic partnerships between Nigeria, Africa and members of the global Black diaspora.

The festival will also feature a cultural presentation celebrating African heritage and creativity, providing an avenue to showcase Nigeria’s traditions, arts, music and other expressions of African culture.

Another major attraction will be the Renewed Global Hope and Peace Concert, which is designed to use music and entertainment to promote messages of peace, unity and cooperation.

Preparations for the event are already underway, with government agencies engaging private-sector partners, international participants and cultural organisations to develop the festival.

The October 2026 launch is therefore expected to serve as a platform for deeper diaspora engagement and expanded opportunities in tourism, creative industries, trade and investment, while positioning Nigeria as a major destination for cultural and economic collaboration.
