FEDERAL GOVERNMENT SETS TO LAUNCH AFRICAN GLOBAL FESTIVAL IN OCTOBER

The Federal Government is set to launch the African Global Festival Nigeria (AGLOFEST) in October 2026, following presidential approval for the international cultural and economic initiative.
The festival is designed to strengthen Nigeria’s cultural diplomacy, economic cooperation and engagement with Africa and the global Black Diaspora, while showcasing the country’s cultural heritage, tourism potential and creative industries to an international audience.

AGLOFEST is being developed as a public-private partnership involving relevant government ministries and stakeholders. It is expected to bring together government officials, investors, businesses, cultural institutions, creative professionals, entrepreneurs, development partners and members of the global Black Diaspora.
The programme will feature three major components: the Black Diaspora Economic Forum, which will focus on trade, investment and business partnerships; the Black Diaspora Cultural Presentation, which will celebrate African heritage and creative expression; and the Renewed Global Hope and Peace Concert, aimed at promoting peace, unity and positive global engagement through music and entertainment.
The initiative is being developed in collaboration with the Ministries of Art, Culture, Tourism and Creative Economy; Trade, Investment and Industry; and Foreign Affairs, among other stakeholders.
According to the organisers, preparations are already underway, with engagements involving prospective international participants, investors, sponsors, cultural organisations and strategic partners. The long-term programme is also expected to create opportunities across tourism, hospitality, aviation, transportation, entertainment, creative industries, trade, investment and infrastructure.
The Federal Government had earlier inaugurated an inter-ministerial committee on AGLOFEST in March 2025, describing the festival as an avenue to promote Nigeria’s cultural heritage and diversify the economy through the creative sector.
The October 2026 launch is therefore expected to provide a platform for Nigeria to deepen its cultural and economic connections with Africa and people of African descent around the world, while creating opportunities for international collaboration and investment.
