FMINO 3RD QUARTER REVIEW: UKAIRE CALLS FOR STRONGER ACCOUNTABILITY, RESULTS

The Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation (FMINO), Dr Binyerem Ukaire, has called on the Ministry and its agencies to strengthen accountability, collaboration and performance tracking in order to achieve measurable results.

Ukaire made the call during the 3rd Quarter 2026 Delivery Task Team (DTT) Performance Review Meeting, hosted by the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) in Abuja. She said the review provides an opportunity to assess progress, identify gaps and bottlenecks, and develop practical solutions to improve service delivery.

She urged directors, heads of agencies, DTT members and desk officers to take ownership of their respective deliverables and work collectively towards achieving the Ministry’s objectives. According to her, the exercise should go beyond routine reporting by ensuring that identified challenges are followed by concrete solutions and measurable outcomes.
Ukaire stressed the need for the Ministry and its agencies to move from simply recording activities to demonstrating tangible results and impact. She also called for closer monitoring of progress and prompt intervention whenever implementation gaps emerge.

At the meeting, FRCN Director-General Dr Mohammed Bulama said the corporation was supporting the Federal Government’s priorities through credible information dissemination, digitisation and innovation. He highlighted the establishment of a functional Delivery Desk, improved reporting on the Central Delivery Tracker, phased digitisation of transmitters and expansion of indigenous-language content.
The review therefore focused on strengthening evidence-based reporting, improving coordination among agencies and ensuring that ministerial deliverables translate into measurable improvements in public service delivery.
The Director of Planning, Research and Statistics, Hajiya Naja’atu Alwan Hassan, also called for intensified efforts to close identified performance gaps, stressing the importance of collaboration, data integrity and evidence-based reporting.

The quarterly review forms part of FMINO’s ongoing performance-monitoring process and is aimed at ensuring that the Ministry and its agencies remain focused on their assigned deliverables and contribute effectively to the Federal Government’s broader priorities.
