ZAMFARA APPROVES CONTRACT FOR CONSTRUCTION OF GUSAU-NASARAWAR GODEL ROAD

The Zamfara State Executive Council has approved the award of a contract for the construction of the 53-kilometre Gusau–Jauri–Dogon Kade–Nasarawar Mailayi–Nasarawar Godel road.
The contract, valued at ₦70.896 billion, was awarded to CCECC Nigeria Limited, which emerged as the lowest evaluated responsive bidder following technical and financial assessments. The project is expected to be completed within 18 months.

According to the state government, the road will feature a 7.3-metre-wide carriageway, 1.5-metre shoulders on both sides, three major bridges, culverts, road furniture, traffic signs and road markings.
The project is expected to improve connectivity between Gusau and communities along the corridor, while facilitating the movement of agricultural produce and other goods to markets. It is also projected to improve access to healthcare, education and other essential services.
Beyond transportation, the government said the road would support security operations and mobility, improve response capabilities within the corridor, reduce travel time and vehicle operating costs, and stimulate commercial activities in the benefiting communities.
The state government has directed the contractor to deliver the project according to the required specifications and within the agreed timeframe, with supervision to ensure quality and value for money.
