Optimism in a layman’s definition is simply a way of seeing things from a positive side. It is a way of believing you are responsible for your own happiness. Life isn‘t so rosy, so you don’t expect things to turn out fine every time, failures, setbacks and disappointment comes with life but the way you choose to react to it determines if you are optimistic or pessimistic. There are several benefits of being optimistic which makes optimism the best choice.

Benefits of optimism

1. It gets rid of depression.

Being pessimistic about life or anything going to happen in the future is a sure path to depression. Thousands of people have slowly died from depression all over the world and choosing that path lies in our hands. All you need do is to try to make yourself happy, you are the major architect of your happiness so try as much as possible to stay happy and avoid being depressed.

2. It serves as a step to greatness.

Optimism helps you see failure as a privilege to learn from your mistakes, make possible corrections and come back strong. The truth is that most successful people never made it easy, they went through lots of disappointments, rejections and setbacks before attaining greatness. If they had negative mindset and decided to quit, they sure wouldn‘t get to a great height.


3. Its healthy.

A lot of diseases like stroke and heart failure are sometimes caused by negative thoughts. When your mind is filled with negative thoughts about the future, there is always a high risk of these diseases. Why bring yourself down with these diseases when you can simply avert them by being optimistic? No matter what you are going through in life, be happy and optimistic about the future. That‘s one of the greatest remedies to live long and healthy.
