PRESIDENT TINUBU CELEBRATES FORMER MILITARY PRESIDENT GENERAL BABANGIDA AT 85

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated former Military President, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (retd.), on his 85th birthday, describing him as an outstanding Nigerian leader whose time in office left lasting marks on the country.  

In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu acknowledged Babangida’s remarkable military career and his leadership of Nigeria from 1985 to 1993.

Tinubu said Babangida’s eight-year administration significantly influenced Nigeria’s political, economic and geographical development, crediting him with expanding the economy, developing infrastructure and establishing institutions that continue to contribute to national development.  

The President also commended Babangida’s role in the creation of states, noting that his foresight and sense of equity contributed to shaping Nigeria’s current political structure.

Tinubu further praised the former military leader for continuing to offer counsel and guidance to the nation in retirement.

He wished General Babangida continued good health, strength and many more years, praying that Almighty Allah would preserve him for many more years of service to the nation.
