The United States International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Bureau (US-INL) has commended the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for its recent operational successes and pledged continued support for Nigeria’s fight against illicit drugs.

The Country Director of INL Nigeria, Derek Tolliver, gave the commendation during a visit to NDLEA Chairman, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (rtd.), in Abuja on August 20, 2026.

Marwa expressed appreciation for the longstanding partnership, noting that US support—including operational vehicles, forensic equipment and infrastructure—has significantly strengthened the agency’s capabilities.

He cited the recent dismantling of a clandestine methamphetamine laboratory in Ogun State, where US-supported forensic equipment helped identify a precursor chemical linked to fentanyl production.

The NDLEA chairman appealed for continued US assistance, particularly in logistics, training and capacity building, while reaffirming the agency’s commitment to deepening international cooperation in combating drug trafficking.
