APC CALLS FOR THE ARREST OF MR.ABAYOMI HUNYE OVER GOVERNORSHIP CANDIDATE IMPERSONATION

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has petitioned the Inspector-General of Police, demanding the arrest, investigation and prosecution of Abayomi Hunye over alleged impersonation as the party’s governorship candidate for the 2027 Ogun State election.

The party alleged that Hunye has been using print and social media platforms to present himself as its candidate, describing the claim as fraudulent and capable of misleading the public and threatening electoral peace.

The APC said Hunye was suspended from the party in April 2026 and maintained that Senator Solomon Adeola Olamilekan and Balogun Kudirat Abiodun are its recognised governorship and deputy governorship candidates respectively.

Hunye, however, has denied impersonating the party’s candidate, saying he is challenging the outcome of the APC governorship primary through legal channels.
