The Northern Senators Forum (NSF) has strongly condemned the terrorist attack on Kpenya Mosque and surrounding communities in Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State, which reportedly resulted in the abduction of hundreds of worshippers and residents.

The forum, led by its Chairman, Senator Abdulaziz Musa Yar’Adua, described the attack as barbaric, cowardly and unacceptable. The senators called on the Armed Forces, Nigeria Police Force, DSS and other security agencies to intensify rescue operations and secure the immediate and safe release of the abducted victims.

The NSF also expressed concern over reports of landmines being planted in the affected areas and further abductions allegedly carried out to use victims as bargaining chips.

The senators urged the Federal Government to provide urgent relief and medical support to affected communities, strengthen security in Borgu and other vulnerable border areas, and undertake a comprehensive review of the security architecture across Niger State and the North-Central region.

The forum expressed solidarity with the people of Niger State and reaffirmed its commitment to working with the Presidency and state governments to restore peace and protect lives.
