FG ORDERS TRANSFER OF INLAND DRY PORT FUNCTIONS TO NPA

Published September 4, 2026 · admin

The Federal Government has directed the transfer of Inland Dry Port (IDP) functions from the Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC) to the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA).

The Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, said the move is aimed at creating a clearer separation between port regulation, development and operations.

The directive follows President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s assent to the Nigeria Ports Economic Regulatory Agency (NPERA) Act, 2026, which transforms the Nigerian Shippers’ Council into NPERA.

A ministerial committee has also been constituted to oversee the transition and ensure that responsibilities are assigned to the appropriate agencies.
