NNPC-BRANDED TRUCK IN NDLEA NET: COMPANY DENIES OWNERSHIP, BACKS FULL PROBE

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd.) has denied ownership of a truck intercepted by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Ondo State with 2,145kg of cannabis concealed in a hidden compartment.

NNPC said preliminary checks showed that the truck, registration number MKA 960 XC, is neither owned by the company nor part of the fleet of its authorised dealers. It added that the vehicle’s branding does not match its current corporate identity and that the truck is not listed in its asset database.
The company said it is working with the Nigerian Association of Road Transport Owners (NARTO) to determine how its old branding came to be displayed on the vehicle.
NNPC also pledged full cooperation with the NDLEA and other security agencies and backed a thorough investigation into the ownership and operation of the truck, as well as the unauthorised use of its corporate identity.
