NAFDAC INAUGURATES 600-MEMBER PHARMACISTS RESERVE VOLUNTEER PROGRAMME

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has inaugurated a 600-member Pharmacists Reserve Volunteer Programme aimed at strengthening the agency’s regulatory and public health activities across Nigeria.,

The initiative is expected to mobilise qualified pharmacists to support NAFDAC in areas such as regulatory oversight, public health awareness, pharmacovigilance and the fight against substandard and falsified medicines.

The agency said the programme would provide an additional pool of skilled professionals who can be deployed to support its operations when required, while promoting greater collaboration between regulators and pharmacy professionals.

NAFDAC stressed that the initiative aligns with its commitment to protecting public health and ensuring that regulated products available to Nigerians meet established standards of safety, quality and efficacy.

The agency urged the newly inaugurated volunteers to uphold professionalism, integrity and commitment to public service as they contribute to strengthening Nigeria’s healthcare regulatory system.
