GOVERNOR ADELEKE BANS NURTW IN OSUN STATE

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has ordered the immediate suspension of all activities of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in motor parks across the state.

The directive, issued after a meeting of the Osun State Security Council, is aimed at restoring order and strengthening security in the state’s motor parks.

Under the directive, NURTW members are barred from operating in the parks or collecting levies. Security agencies have also been ordered to arrest anyone parading themselves as a union official or executive in the affected parks.
Governor Adeleke clarified that the directive does not mean the closure of motor parks. A Rapid Response Squad comprising personnel from various security agencies was also approved to enforce the order.
The decision followed tensions and clashes between rival NURTW factions over control of motor parks in Osun State.
