HON. JOSEPH FOLORUNSO ADEGBESAN HONOURS EWA ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

Hon. Joseph Folorunso Adegbesan, Member of the 10th National Assembly representing the good people of Ijebu East, Ijebu North and Ogun Waterside Federal Constituency, has once again demonstrated his commitment to supporting education, women in academia and community development by honouring the invitation of the Elite Women in Academics (EWA), Ijebu East Branch, at its Annual General Meeting.

The Annual General Meeting, held on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. at ICAD Hall, Ijebu Ife, brought together distinguished academics, educationists, community leaders,State President of EWA,chief Mrs Ogunsanlu Ekundayo Ashake, stakeholders and members of EWA to deliberate on issues affecting education, professional development and the advancement of women in academia.

Hon. Adegbesan’s presence at the gathering was warmly received by the leadership and members of the association. His attendance further reflected his recognition of the important role women educators and academics play in shaping the future of society and developing the next generation.

During the meeting, the Federal Lawmaker expressed his appreciation to the leadership of EWA for the invitation and commended the organisation for its contributions to the educational sector and the development of human capacity within Ijebu East and beyond.

He reiterated the importance of collaboration between elected representatives, educational institutions, professional organisations and community-based associations in addressing challenges confronting education and creating opportunities for young people.

The engagement also provided an opportunity for meaningful interaction between the lawmaker and members of EWA, with discussions centred on education, youth development, institutional support, capacity building and other issues of importance to the constituency.

The EWA leadership, under the administration of Chief Mrs. Adetutu Ogunde, President, alongside other executive members, appreciated Hon. Adegbesan for honouring the invitation despite his demanding responsibilities as a federal legislator.

His participation was described as a demonstration of his accessibility, responsiveness and willingness to engage with organised groups within his constituency.

The occasion further strengthened the relationship between the office of the Federal Representative and the academic community, while reinforcing the need for continued partnership towards sustainable educational and human-capital development.

The Annual General Meeting ended on a positive note, with participants expressing optimism that the collaboration between EWA and relevant stakeholders would continue to produce meaningful initiatives for educators, students, youths and the wider community.
