Coordinating Minister of Health Prof. Pate Calls On Private Sector To Invest More In Nigeria’s Healthcare System

The All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council has refuted allegations by African Democratic Congress (ADC) chieftain, Frank Timi, concerning an alleged plot to assassinate former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.

In a statement signed by its spokesperson, Dele Alake, the council described the allegations as false and denied reports circulating that security personnel attached to the former vice president had been withdrawn.
According to the statement, additional security personnel had been deployed to protect Atiku, dismissing claims that his security arrangements had been weakened.
The council urged Timi to provide credible information to substantiate his allegations and called on security agencies to investigate the matter.
The statement read in part: “This is a grave allegation that Mr Frank must prove. We thus urge security agencies to invite him to substantiate the allegation, given its gravity and the urgent need to preserve life.”
It further urged Timi to provide any information in his possession that could assist a prompt investigation, stressing that credible threats to life must be treated seriously, irrespective of political affiliation.
The APC Presidential Campaign Council categorically denied that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu or the council was involved in any alleged plot to assassinate Atiku or any other opposition figure.
The council maintained that it would not engage in actions capable of undermining democratic principles, insisting that political opposition remained essential to the survival and development of democracy.
It also stated that its focus remained on promoting democratic engagement, good governance, national peace and the protection of Nigeria’s sovereignty.
The statement further noted that President Tinubu recognised opposition politics as an essential component of Nigeria’s democracy, recalling his role in opposition politics before the defeat of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2015 general elections.
The council reiterated its commitment to democratic principles and urged those making serious allegations to provide verifiable evidence to enable the relevant authorities to investigate the claims.
