The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State has dismissed reports alleging that its governorship candidate, Hon. (Dr.) Oladipupo Adebutu, was excluded from a list purportedly released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), describing the claim as false and fabricated.

The party, in a press release dated October 29, 2026, said there was no official publication or update on INEC’s website confirming Adebutu’s alleged exclusion.

The statement was signed by the Ogun State PDP Publicity Secretary, Arc. Otunba Kayode Adebayo, who also challenged the authenticity of reports claiming that Adebutu’s name was missing while that of another individual identified as Patanmi from Gombe appeared on the purported list.

According to the party, neither INEC’s Public Relations Officer nor any authorised official of the commission had issued a statement or conducted a press briefing confirming the alleged exclusion.

The PDP described the circulating report as an unverified claim and accused its promoters of attempting to create confusion within the party and among its supporters.

The party further maintained that Adebutu remained its authentic and undisputed governorship candidate, expressing confidence that his name would appear on the ballot in accordance with the Constitution, the Electoral Act and INEC guidelines.

The Ogun PDP urged its supporters, party members and the general public to disregard the reports and remain focused, insisting that the development would not distract the party from its political activities.

It also reaffirmed its position that the party remained united and committed to its preparations for the forthcoming governorship election.

The statement comes amid political discussions surrounding candidate nominations and the publication of electoral lists ahead of the 2027 general elections.
