President Bola Tinubu has nominated six executive directors for the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), forwarding their names to the Senate for confirmation.

A statement issued by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, disclosed that three of the nominees are returning executive directors, while the remaining three are new appointments.

According to the statement, all six nominees will serve five-year terms upon confirmation by the Senate.

The returning executive directors are Abiodun Adeniji, nominated as Executive Director, Finance and Accounts; Ogbugo Kalu Ukoha, Executive Director, Distribution Systems, Storage and Retailing Infrastructure; and Dr Mustapha Lamorde, Executive Director, Health, Safety, Environment and Community.

The newly nominated executive directors are Mobolaji Tajudeen Musa, Executive Director, Hydrocarbon Processing Plants, Installations and Transportation Infrastructure; Ogechukwu Modie, Executive Director, Economic Regulations and Strategic Planning; and Said Abutalib, Executive Director, Corporate Services and Administration.

President Tinubu urged the Senate to expedite consideration of the nominations to ensure institutional continuity and strengthen the Authority’s regulatory and oversight capacity.

The President also approved the appointment of Mrs Jumoke Gafar as Secretary to the Board/Authority and Legal Adviser, subject to the completion of statutory procedures under Section 46 of the Petroleum Industry Act.

The latest nominations follow the appointment of Engineer Rabiu Abdullahi Umar as the Authority’s Chief Executive in April.
