Nasarawa Police Arrest Three Suspects Over Alleged Forged ICPC Identity Card, Unregistered Lexus

The Nasarawa State Police Command has arrested three suspects following the interception of a Lexus IS 250 without a registration number during a routine patrol operation in the Bukan Sidi area of Lafia.

The suspects, identified as Mohammed Umar, Mohammed Nuhu and Ibrahim Suleiman, were arrested by operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit while conducting a patrol in the area.
According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Rahman Nansel, the operatives intercepted the vehicle and subjected its occupants to questioning over their movement and the circumstances surrounding the vehicle.
During interrogation, one of the suspects, Mohammed Nuhu, reportedly identified himself as an officer of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) and presented an identification card purportedly issued by the Commission.

However, when the driver, Mohammed Umar, was questioned about the ownership of the vehicle, he allegedly failed to provide a satisfactory explanation, prompting the police to arrest all three occupants for further investigation.
The police statement further disclosed that preliminary findings indicated that the ICPC identification card presented by Mohammed Nuhu was forged.
Mohammed Nuhu reportedly claimed that he accompanied the driver from Kaduna State to Lafia because the driver did not possess a valid driver’s licence.
Further profiling of the suspects allegedly revealed that Ibrahim Suleiman had links to an unlawful group identified as the Eiye Confraternity.
The Command said the suspects remain in police custody as investigations continue to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident, verify the ownership of the vehicle and determine whether they are connected to other criminal activities.
It added that the suspects would be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Nasarawa State Command, Shetima Jauro Mohamed, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to proactive policing, intelligence-led operations and sustained efforts to combat crime across the state.
The Commissioner also urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious movements and activities to the nearest police station to support ongoing efforts to maintain peace and security.
