NCDC: Two Suspected Ebola Cases In Adamawa Test Negative

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has confirmed that two suspected Ebola cases reported in Yola, Adamawa State, have tested negative following two rounds of laboratory testing.

In a statement, the Agency disclosed that it was working in collaboration with the Adamawa State Government to investigate the reported cases as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen disease surveillance and prevent the possible spread of the virus.
The NCDC noted that the two suspected cases were promptly isolated and subjected to laboratory investigations to determine their health status.
It further clarified that the index case previously confirmed in the Federal Capital Territory remains the only confirmed Ebola case reported in Nigeria, dismissing any suggestion of additional confirmed cases in Adamawa State.
The Agency urged Nigerians to remain calm and avoid spreading unverified reports that could cause unnecessary panic, stressing the importance of relying on official government announcements and recognised public health channels for accurate information.
It also advised members of the public to remain alert and seek immediate medical attention if they experience symptoms associated with Ebola, including fever, severe weakness, headache, muscle pain, vomiting, diarrhoea and unexplained bleeding, particularly following possible exposure to an infected person.
The NCDC emphasised that individuals seeking medical attention should provide healthcare workers with accurate information about their recent travel history and possible contact with suspected or confirmed cases to aid proper assessment and prompt intervention.
The Agency reaffirmed the importance of public cooperation, early reporting of symptoms and adherence to public health guidance as surveillance and response activities continue across the country.
